On Friday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, currently in Kiev, are expected to visit Moscow in hopes of reaching a deal that would "satisfy all sides of the conflict" and end the recent surge in hostilities.
The head of Russia's lower parliamentary house foreign affairs committee, Alexei Pushkov, underscored Paris and Berlin's influence over Ukraine. Pushkov said in an interview with Radio RSN earlier in the day that Merkel and Hollande could "convince Kiev" to immediately cease hostilities.
