"One of them is a serious cooperation in CW Nproject that even accelerated during the period of crisis in Ukraine. The second is a P5+1 talks regarding Iranian nuclear project and Sergei Rybkov is one of the key players in it and it has been a very successful area of cooperation as well. The third area is the implementation of the NEW START [Strategic Arms Reduction] treaty that continues to be very successful in its implementation, very pragmatic, very business-like," Gottemoeller said at the 2014 Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.
"So I have three very good examples how we have been able to cooperate despite the difficult environment in our bilateral relationship," she added.
Russia's relations with the United States deteriorated dramatically over the situation in the southeast of Ukraine.
Washington has been repeatedly accusing Moscow of meddling into Ukraine's internal affairs and alongside its allies imposed several rounds of sanctions targeting Russian banking, energy and defense sectors, as well as some high-ranking officials.
NATO also condemned Russia's alleged participation in Ukrainian crisis and on April 1 ended all practical cooperation with Russia, only maintaining contacts at the ambassadorial and higher levels.
Russia has repeatedly denied the allegations and called the sanctions counterproductive.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on November 19 that differences in opinion between Russia and the West are objective but Moscow is prepared to find compromises "based on equal rights" and without "blackmail or dictatorship."
