Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that Ukrainian ambassador to return to Russia after improving relations between the two countries.

MOSCOW, November 14 (Sputnik) — Ukrainian ambassador will return to Russia after improving relations between the two countries, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said Friday.

Ukrainian ambassador will return to Moscow "when [we] will return to what is called 'normal diplomatic relations,'" Klimkin wrote in Foreign Ministry Twitter chat.

Ukraine recalled its ambassador to Russia Vladimir Yelchenko on March 17, a day after the referendum on the Crimean status took place.

Following the February coup in Ukraine, residents of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new government and held a status referendum in March, which resulted in Crimea's reunification with Russia. Almost 97 percent of the population voted to break away from Ukraine and rejoin Russia. The United States and the European Union said Russia allegedly imposed influence on modifying the referendum's results. Russia denied any accusations and claimed the referendum was fair.
