US Senator James Inhofe's office stated that the issue of lethal aid to Ukraine to be considered by the Senate and the Armed Services Committee if Obama won't make such decision.

WASHINGTON, November 4 (RIA Novosti) — The US Senate will do everything in its power to overcome a possible White House decision not to send lethal assistance to Ukrainian government forces, a representative from US Senator James Inhofe's office told RIA Novosti.

"If no such decision is made by [US President Barack] Obama, the issue will be considered by the Senate and the Armed Services Committee, [who] will do whatever it can to make it happen," the Inhofe representative said.

Ukraine officials have passed on a list of weapons to Washington, so the US government is aware of Kiev's needs, the representative claimed.

The Inhofe office contact added that the United States "could provide weapons [to Ukraine] as soon as the decision is made."

The US military is developing a work program that could eventually provide lethal aid to Ukrainian forces, the US Department of Defense confirmed on October 8.

In April, the Ukraine government launched military operations against independence supporters in the southeast who refused to recognize the new regime, which came to power earlier in winter.

In late September, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko requested lethal military assistance from the United States during a trip to Washington, but the United States so far has relegated security assistance to non-lethal aid.
