According to the member of the Russian State Duma Aleksei Didenko, observing the preparations for the November 2 elections of the regional leaders and legislative bodies in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, the organizers show the high level of readiness.

MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) — Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics have shown a high level of readiness for the upcoming elections on Sunday, Member of the Russian State Duma Aleksei Didenko said.

"Obviously, that the level of the preparations is extremely high; the organizers did their best to take into account the specificity of the time at which the elections take place, that is to say, the military actions along the border," Didenko told RIA Novosti Saturday.

Didenko, who is observing the preparations for the elections, also said residents of the region, currently living in Russia and in the territories, controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces, may also have the possibility to take part in the elections.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) are to elect their regional leaders and legislative bodies on November 2.

In April, Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation in the country's southeast, where independence supporters refused to accept the new government that was put in power, following a coup in February.

Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine held referendums this May on self-determination. Over 90 percent of the voters cast their votes for greater autonomy. As a result, the territories declared themselves sovereign states.
