BRUSSELS, October 16 (RIA Novosti) – President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will discuss the ceasefire with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Thursday and participate in a European leaders' meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, the Commission spokeswoman Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen said Thursday.
Hansen said that Barroso and President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy would meet with Poroshenko on Thursday to discuss the implementation of the Minsk ceasefire agreement. On Friday, Barroso is expected to participate in a meeting of several European leaders and the Russian and Ukrainian presidents.
The heads of 29 European countries and 22 Asian partners will attend the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit that will take place in Milan, Italy, from October 16 to 17.
The main topic of the summit hosted by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi is partnership for sustainable growth and security in the world.
