EU Says Cannot Confirm Next Round of Iran Nuclear Talks to Be Held on October 16

The European Union cannot confirm that the next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group will be held on October 16, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton’s spokesperson Michael Mann told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

VIENNA, October 14 (RIA Novosti), Daria Chernyshova - The European Union cannot confirm that the next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the so-called P5+1 group will be held on October 16, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton’s spokesperson Michael Mann told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

"Can't confirm," Mann told RIA Novosti in an SMS exchange.

Earlier on Tuesday, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters that the next round of talks on the Iranian nuclear program between Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany will be held in Vienna on October 16.

The sides are expected to announce the date for the next round of talks after this week's consultations between US and EU officials and Tehran’s negotiators headed by Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif.
