MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Incumbent president Dilma Rousseff is confident she will win Brazil’s presidential elections after receiving just under 42 percent of votes in the first round, Terra Networks reported Monday.

“The struggle continues, a struggle that will certainly lead to victory once more, as it is the struggle of the Brazilian people,” Rousseff is cited as saying by Terra.

The second round of Brazil’s presidential elections is set to take place on October 26. Rousseff, who represents the Worker’s Party, will face Social Democracy Party candidate Aecio Neves, who received 33.55 percent of the votes in the first round.

In the 2010 elections, Rousseff received some 47 percent of the votes in the first round, while Social Democracy Party candidate José Serra received 33 percent. She proceeded to win the second round with 56 percent and assumed office in January 2011.
