MOSCOW, September 17 (RIA Novosti) -The administration of the US President Barack Obama is trying to create an illusion of "constructive relations" with the Kremlin while in reality it is pursuing policy that will lead to a new Cold War, the Russian State Duma's foreign affairs committee head Alexei Pushkov said Wednesday in a tweet.

"Obama's administration is trying to create an illusion of "constructive relations" with Kremlin, pursuing the policy of exclusion and new Cold War against Russia," Pushkov wrote Wednesday.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said last week that Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin maintain a constructive working relationship despite differences over the Ukrainian issue.

On Tuesday, Pushkov called that statement "complete nonsense." He also wrote, that Obama is doing everything possible to lose Russia as a partner.

US-Russian relations have deteriorated significantly since the beginning of Ukrainian crisis, as the United States repeatedly accused Russia of providing aid to the independence supporters of eastern Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied these claims, calling the sanctions that the West has imposed on Russia "counterproductive."
