MOSCOW, September 1 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said he is “quite optimistic” about the agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue after talks with the head of EU diplomacy Catherine Ashton, Reuters reported Monday.

"I am quite optimistic after discussions with Lady Ashton that we can in fact resolve this issue in time," Zarif told reporters. “I hope with the readiness and political will that I see in all parties to this discussion to have a resolution within the next three months.”

Under the Geneva action plan adopted on November 24, 2013, the six world powers and Iran by July 20 had to reach an agreement, which would guarantee the exclusively peaceful character of Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for a step-by-step lifting of international sanctions against the Islamic Republic. The document is supposed to be signed no later than a year after the Geneva accord, which means the parties will have to agree on the matter before November 24, 2014.
