Yaroslavl, a city located 250 kilometers northwest of Moscow, is the center of Russian bell music.
The key goal of the international competition is "the development of new types and forms of bell music."
Bell ringers from Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Anapa, and Belarus will take part in the competition.
The awards ceremony will be held on August 21, after which the Savior Transfiguration monastery will host a gala performance by laureates and fireworks.
The first bell-ringing competition was held in 1992 and the second in 1999.
