SERBIAN MARATHON RUNNERS DEDICATE THEIR RUN TO 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF VICTORY

BELGRADE, March 6 (RIA Novosti) - A group of 10 marathon runners from Serbian club "Noble Hearts" will set off from Belgrade on April 21 and finish their marathon run on May 9 in Moscow, thus dedicating their run to the 60th anniversary of the victory over the fascist Germany. According to the Serbian newspaper Vecerne Novine, it will be the longest marathon ever registered in the world.

The total distance of the marathon is 2,450 kilometers. According to the coaches of the athletes, each runner will be covering daily about 80-130 kilometers of the distance.

The route of the distance lies along the territories of Serbia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. The group sets off from St. Sava Cathedral in Belgrade and completes the run at Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.

The athletes intend to donate part of the money, received from advertising of the event, to families of children, who perished in days of the Beslan tragedy, a spokesman for the club told RIA Novosti.
