MISSION-CONTROL CENTER, (Korolev, Moscow Region), March 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian mission-control center plans to provide mobile-phone users with orbital SMS weather forecasts. This was disclosed to RIA Novosti by Vladimir Soloviev, who supervises the International Space Station's flight.

Any person wishing to ski in the Urals region can use his or her mobile phone to receive an SMS weather forecast just about anywhere (trolleybuses included), Mr. Soloviev noted. In his words, this SMS project is currently being negotiated with a cell-phone operator.

According to Mr. Soloviev, mobile-phone users will have to wait for a while, before this service becomes available. At the same time, long-term plans of our work will enable all cell-phone owners to obtain weather forecasts from Russian satellites, Mr. Soloviev noted in conclusion.
