Colonel Musayev said that the police discovered the presence of bandits in a cave on the slopes of the Tarki-Tau mountain. They found a handgun, a grenade, a crowbar, a shovel, some spent shells, two grills and a kerosene lamp.

The head of the press service reported that a search for bandits started on Saturday morning after the police received operative information about three armed individuals spotted in the forests around the northern part of Makhachkala on the slopes of the Tarki-Tau mountain.

Earlier reports announced that a soldier from the special purpose police unit was killed and an Interior Ministry soldier was wounded in the course of a skirmish on Saturday.
