MOSCOW, December 25 (RIA Novosti) - The CIS interior ministers have adopted an appeal to the chairman of the Council of the CIS Heads of State with a request to introduce a CIS-VISIT biometrics software developed by Kazakhstan.
In the ministers' opinion, this is the most effective tool to combat terrorism, trans-border crime and illegal migration.
The appeal says that the fingerprint and face identification procedure based on this software takes no more five seconds.
The software will help authorities to expose with a high degree of probability (over 90%) illegal migrants, and also persons on wanted lists trying to change their personal data.
"The software's application implies the formation of a united database and creates necessary conditions for the introduction of biometrics passports complying with international standards," the appeal says.
