This is said in Ukraine's statement on results of its chairmanship in the Council of the CIS heads of state distributed after the council's session on Thursday in the Kazakh capital, reports the press service of the Ukrainian president's administration.
"Efforts taken in the framework of the Commonwealth in the issue of counteracting modern challenges and threats must go in the context of coordinated actions of the world community, in particular, the leading international organizations in this sphere," stresses the document.
"Being an integral part of the world community, the Commonwealth countries cannot stay aside from the problems of the collective countering the modern challenges and threats, which today objectively become one of the priority trends of multilateral cooperation," notes the document.
In the opinion of the Ukrainian side, the Commonwealth member states have already made specific steps in this sphere. In particular, relevant institutions in the CIS bodies' structure have been established and work actively, a number of program documents aimed at strengthening interaction in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, drug aggression, illegal migration have been prepared and adopted.
"Discussion is underway in the framework of our countries' participation in relevant dimensions of the OSCE activity, the dialogue with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is becoming more active [besides China, this regional organization comprises Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan]," reads the statement.
The Ukrainian side notes that the CIS member states are to find specific forms and methods of interaction.
