TBILISI, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - As a result of the firing at the Georgian villages of Eredvi and Ardvisi in the Tskhinvali region (i.e., South Ossetia) last night, six Georgian servicemen were wounded. This was reported by the regional police in Shida Kartli (word by word, Internal Georgia, with the capital in Gori, which borders in the north on South Ossetia).

According to the source, two wounded people were taken out from the conflict zone last night, and others, due to intensive shooting, were taken to a hospital in Tkviavi, where is the Georgian checkpoint, only in the morning.

According to a police spokesman, the wounded were part of peacekeeping forces on the Georgian side.

The source said the Georgian Interior Troops opened return fire.

Earlier, Irina Gagloyeva, the chairwoman of the South Ossetian information and press committee, said there were no major skirmishes in South Ossetia last night.
