RELICS OF HOLY NUN-MARTYRS ELIZABETH AND BARBARA TO BE TAKEN TO RUSSIA

MOSCOW, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - Relics of Holy Nun-martyrs Grand Duchess Elisabeth and Barbara will be delivered to Russia from the monastery of Maria Magdalena in Jerusalem in late July. The relics belong to the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad.

The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad decided to permit to bring the relics of holy nun-martyrs to Russia, President of the Andrew the First-Called foundation Alexander Melnik told journalists on Thursday.

We shall discuss the details during the visit to Moscow by Metropolitan Lavr, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (he arrives on May 14), Mr. Melnik said.

According to him, two special shrines are being made to take some part of the relics to Russia.

At first, the relics Holy Nun-martyrs Grand Duchess Elisabeth and Barbara will be exhibited at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the monastery of Sts. Martha and Mary. After that, they will be delivered to the Far East by plane. Then the shrines will travel all over Russia in a special carriage.

In March the relics will return to Jerusalem.

Holy Nun-martyrs Grand Duchess Elisabeth of the Romanov House and Barbara were plagued to death by Bolsheviks in 1918.
