GROZNY, May 13 (RIA Novosti) - A militant, suspected of involvement in hostage taking in the Dubrovka Theater Center in Moscow in 2002, has been detained in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, the source in the republic's interior ministry told RIA Novosti.

According to him, it has been established that the detainee purchased weapons and ammunition to perpetrate a terrorist act in the Dubrovka Theater Center.

The Chechen interior ministry also reported that Musayev took an active part in military operations when terrorists penetrated into the territory of Dagestan in 1999. He is also being checked as to the involvement in the terrorist act in Grozny on May 9, 2004.

The regional operational staff for controlling the counter terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti on Thursday that Musayev was detained in a special operation conducted in Grozny.

"Musayev was searched for by the officers of the temporary group of forces and the operative-investigation bureau of the Russian interior ministry for quite a long time. There is irrefutable evidence that in 2002 he participated in preparing terrorist acts in the Dubrovka Theater Center and near a McDonalds restaurant in Moscow," the staff representative said.

In addition, Musayev also actively participated in purchasing arms and explosives for perpetrating terrorist acts and preparing transport for their transit, the staff reported.
