GEORGIA WITHDRAWS MILITARY HARDWARE FROM POTI

TBILISI, May 3 (RIA Novosti's Marina Kvaratskhelia) - Following large-scale military exercises in Poti, Georgian authorities started to withdraw military hardware from there.

On Monday 40 tanks equipped with antiaircraft installations, armored vehicles and other military hardware were withdrawn from Poti by rail, the Georgian Defense Ministry disclosed to RIA Novosti. Most of the servicemen from the Georgian Interior Ministry and Defense Ministry have already left the city of Poti.

Military aircraft returned to the places of permanent deployment as well.

According to the ministry, a company of the Shavnabada battalion remained in the city of Poti.

Servicemen and military hardware assigned to the Georgian Naval Forces and deployed in the port of Poti remained in the city as well, the press service of the Georgian Defense Ministry reported.
