The events were organised in cooperation with Germany's consulate general in St Petersburg, the Goethe culture centre, the German service of academic exchanges and the foreign ministry.
The Manezh central exhibition hall will host an exhibition, Germany - Territory of Arts, which will feature paintings by modern German artists.
The cultural programme also envisages a series of concerts. The world famous German Brass band will give concerts in the philharmonic society. German clarinettist Sabina Meyer is expected to take part in the Evening in the Opera House programme, while jazz clarinettist Florina Rossa will perform at the JCF club. The Russian public will also see the premiere of Solino, a film directed by Fatih Akin, who has received a Golden Bear for this film at the latest Berlin film festival.
A roundtable meeting, which will involve art critics, social scientists, artists and literati from both countries, will take place on the sidelines of the exhibition.
The programme also envisages scientific conferences and ceremonies of the presentation of German universities.
