MOSCOW, April 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russia must take advantage of the changes in the world economy for enhancing its role, Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov stated at a meeting of the Federation Council (the parliament's upper chamber).
According to him, "the rational drawing of Russia into the world economy, positioning vis-a-vis the world economic centers of strength" are a major task of the government.
"A time of profound changes has now come in the world," Mr. Fradkov pointed out. As he said, this not only is fraught with threats to our economy but also opens up new opportunities.
Russia must use its strong points and compensate for the positions it is short of. This concerns both creation of Single Economic Space (together with Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan), and Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization, the Prime Minister noted.
Mikhail Fradkov stressed that Russia must make utmost use of cooperation with other countries.
