GENEVA SHOW BRINGS RUSSIA'S EMERGENCY MINISTRY 9 MEDALS

MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - Experts of Russia's Ministry for Emergency and Calamity Relief won nine medals with their R&D breakthroughs at the Geneva 2004, a 31st international show of the latest inventions and pioneer technologies, which finished in Switzerland a few days ago.

Two fire extinguishing devices won gold medals and honour certificates. Gold also went to a forest fire prevention, detection and extinguishing system, which uses Be 200ChS amphibious planes and Irkut MChS drones, with video cameras installed. Other ministerial expert endeavours-fire extinguishers and fire-resistant materials-won two silver medals and four bronze, a ministerial PR officer said to Novosti.

The show had on display breakthroughs by more than a thousand individual and team inventors and designers, offered by 42 national delegations.
