CIS CITIZENS ARE AMONG THE CAPTURED IN IRAQ STAFF MEMBERS OF INTERENERGOSERVIS

MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - Among the staff members of the Russian Interenergoservis company, captured in Iraq, there are citizens of Ukraine and other CIS countries, the Moscow bureau of the Qatar TV channel Al Jazeera reported.

According to the bureau spokesman, the captured members of the company were restoring the electric power station in Baghdad's suburb of al-Dora.

There are two versions of the kidnapping, the Al Jazeera bureau reported. The first one: criminal, with the aim of receiving a ransom.

"The second version: a provocation on the part of pro-American political forces in Iraq," the spokesman said. According to him, a member of the Interim Governing Council of Iraq, Ahmed Chaljabi, supports the Americans and is interested in prolonging the presence of the US forces in Iraq." So far, according to the data of Al Jazeera, the kidnappers did not put forth any demands.
