ZHELEZNODOROZHNY (Moscow region), April 9 (RIA Novosti) - By 2006 several antiaircraft missile regiments of the Russian Air Force will have new military equipment, Vladimir Mikhailov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force, told reporters on Friday.

"We are working on new air defense systems. Not only the S-300 system will be updated. By 2006 several antiaircraft missile regiments will get new machines," Mikhailov said. New radar stations are about to appear. "Some of them are undergoing troop tests," he added.

New machines are already arriving into army fighter aviation. "We are also working on new equipment for military-transport aviation and they will soon enter the inventories," Mikhailov said.

In Mikhailov's words, the main thing is that capacities of the defense-industrial complex have already been prepared for the manufacture of new equipment.

"Most importantly, we now know what equipment we need. It is already arriving, though not as fast as we would like it to," Vladimir Mikhailov said.
