BRUSSELS, April 8 (RIA Novosti) - President Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia does not think the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will adversely affect his country's relations with Russia. He has made this clear in an interview for the French newspaper Soir.
"We have approached Moscow with a proposal that another pipeline be constructed across Georgian territory, one that would link Russia and the Turkish port of Ceyhan," Mr. Saakashvili said in the interview. "And we are already negotiating the possibility," he added.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, whose construction is being financed by the United States, will be used for transporting Caspian crude oil to the West, in circumvention of Russia.
