MOSCOW, April 8, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is not planning to sign an agreement on transiting arms to Afghanistan via Russian territory with NATO as a whole, said Alexander Yakovenko, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesman.

Mr Yakovenko recalled that there was a Russian-German agreement on weaponry and troops transits to Afghanistan. A similar agreement may be also signed with France, according to the diplomat.

"Agreements of this kind may also be concluded with other NATO countries. They have already reached Russia with relevant requests. However, a relevant agreement with NATO as a whole is not planned," said Mr Yakovenko.
