PUTIN, AZNAR HAVE PHONE TALK

MOSCOW, APRIL 7, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia's President Vladimir Putin and Jose Maria Aznar, Prime Minister of Spain, had a telephone conference on the latter's initiative today, reports the Kremlin press service.

In the context of an upcoming Cabinet change in his country, Senor Aznar thanked President Putin, who had been spectacularly contributing to the progress of bilateral contacts and Russian-Spanish teamwork on the international stage.

Mr. Putin, in his turn, said he was satisfied with mutual understanding of the Russian and Spanish tops. This understanding has honourably promoted versatile bilateral ties, he added.

The President hopes these contacts will remain at their present high level and even improve under a new Cabinet in Spain.
