MOSCOW, APRIL 7. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- The embassy of Kazakhstan in Moscow has flatly denied the reports on its desire to join NATO and called them "groundless".

"Entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation now or in the foreseeable future is not in consideration even in theory", Yarlan Baidzhanov, official spokesman for the embassy of Kazakhstan in Moscow, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday commenting on reports by some Russian mass media.

To him, interaction between Kazakhstan and NATO is now being done within the framework of the NATO Partnership for Peace Programme and "in questions of the struggle against international terrorism".

"The question of Kazakhstan joining NATO is not in consideration", Baidzhanov emphasised.
