SESSION OF AZERBAIJANI-RUSSIAN INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION CLOSES

BAKU, April 7, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Three documents were signed as a result of the 8th session of the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission on the economic cooperation, which was held on Wednesday in Baku.

The documents are: the protocol of the meeting between the heads of the Azerbaijani National Air and Space Agency and the Russian Federal Space Agency; the contract between the Russian scientific-research institute of space tools-making and the special Azerbaijani construction bureau of space tools-making on the purchase of a receiving device of natural and resource information from Russian satellites; and, the protocol of the commission session.

Moreover, the commission made decisions concerning the conditions and perspectives of the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, implementation of the Russo-Azerbaijani program of economic cooperation for the period until 2010, cooperation in the sphere of fuel and energy complex, transportation and connections as well as in the air and space complex. In particular, the agreement on the mutual navigational provision of Azerbaijan was reached. The issues concerning joint elaboration and production of combined GPS/GLONASS receivers as well as their promotion on the domestic Azerbaijani market were also discussed.

The commission also decided to hold the next regular meeting of Co-Chairmen of the Azerbaijani-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation (between Azerbaijani Vice Premier Abbas Abbasov and Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko) in November 2004 in Moscow.
