STATE DUMA SPEAKER SATISFIED WITH INTENSIFICATION OF POLITICAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN RUSSIA AND YEMEN

MOSCOW, April 6, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- Chairman of the State Duma (the Russian parliament's lower chamber) Boris Gryzlov is satisfied with the intensification of the political dialogue between Russia and the Yemen Republic. He stated this in the course of his Tuesday meeting with president Ali Abdallah Salih of Yemen, who is staying in Russia on a working visit.

The politicians discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, as well as a number of international problems, including the questions of combating terrorism and the situation in Iraq.

In the course of the meeting Mr. Gryzlov also declared to be "for more effective interparliament interaction", specifically for strengthening the treaty-legal base of the two countries' cooperation in different fields.

The State Duma chairman and the president of Yemen also discussed the questions of development of trade-economic cooperation between the two countries, including the joint projects in the free economic zone on the basis of the Yemeni city of Aden.
