MOSCOW, April 5, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russian regions are going to send humanitarian aid to Kosovo's Serbs, said Georgy Poltavchenko, the Russian president's envoy to the Central Federal District. Eighteen of Russia's 89 constituent members have signalled the readiness to provide aid, Mr Poltavchenko told reporters on Monday.

These regions are discussing technical issues at the moment, and the timeframe has not been set thus far. They are considering sending money for housing restoration instead of foodstuffs and blankets.

Moreover, a national address to invite Russians to help their Orthodox co-believers in Kosovo is also being considered, according to Mr Poltavchenko.
