RIA Novosti learnt this on Friday from Konstantin Kosachev, head of the State Duma international committee, leading the Russian parliamentary delegation in PACE.
Giving this problem a general European importance and the real involvement of PACE together with the UN effort in settling the conflict are to ensure "the working out of new approaches to this theme, minding all the earlier miscalculations", Kosachev said.
The recent developments in Kosovo have brought to the fore the need of an efficient solution for Kosovo, he believes.
"It is clear that the international force staying in the region all these years cannot ensure the fulfilment of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council", he said.
"Moreover, and this is recognised by the majority of European organisations, the situation has only worsened and the Kosovo conflict has grown into ethnic purges", Kosachev added.
Attempts at proposing further versions instead of the earlier methods of settling have proved to be inefficient. They will be doomed from the beginning and only put off decisions that would suit all the conflicting parties, Kosachev stressed.
If the true organisers of the March pogroms are not taken to court, the conflict in Kosovo will only go worse, believe the Russian parliamentarian.
