RUSSIAN ETHNOGRAPHER MADE SORBONNE'S HONORARY DOCTOR

ST. PETERSBURG, April 2, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The title of the Sorbonne's honorary doctor was conferred on the well-known Russian ethnographer Albert Baiburin from St. Petersburg. The senior official of the St. Petersburg anthropology and ethnography museum has become the third Russian whose services are highly valued by the famous French university, after Mikhail Gorbachev, the initiator of the Soviet perestroika, and celebrated musician Mstislav Rostropovich.

Albert Baiburin is the author of over 150 research works in the spheres of ethnography, folklore and semiotics. He specializes in traditional culture of Eastern Slavs.
