Commander Koba Lachkebiani told journalists that "infantry units of the brigade have already undergone training by American military instructors within the framework of the American government programme Training and Equipment of the Georgian Armed Forces". The brigade's armour group is now finishing training under the programme, he said.
After that, "within the framework of the new programme of training of Georgian servicemen, other units of the brigade will get trained and then it will be fully manned according to the contract system". Lachkebiani said.
Under the Georgian army reform, the 11th motorifle brigade of the Georgian Defence Ministry as an exemplary unit will be the first to fit the NATO standards.
