MOSCOW, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will take part in the conference "The Role of the Military in Combating Terrorism" due on April 5 at the naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. The conference will be held in the format of the Russia-NATO Council, a spokesman for the defense ministry told RIA Novosti.
In his words, the conferees will discuss Russia-NATO cooperation in combating international terrorism, as well as the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan.
On the next day after the conference, the Russian defense minister is planning to meet with the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, presidential national security adviser Condoleezza Rice and Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld.
