    350 DEPORTED FROM FAR EAST

    VLADIVOSTOK, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - During the Illegal Migrant operation, 350 foreigners, who had violated Russian law, were deported from the Russian Far East. Two hundred and forty-seven of them, mainly Chinese citizens, were deported from the Maritime Territory.

    The press service of the main department of the Far East Federal District's Interior Ministry (includes the Maritime region on the western shore of the Sea of Japan) reported that territorial bodies of the FSB, the Finance Ministry, the Health Ministry, and other interested organizations conducted the operation from March 20 to 30.

    During the operation officers checked more than 3,700 employers who use foreign labor, over 21,000 foreign workers and 4,500 residences of foreign guests and people without citizenship.

    More than 8,200 administrative violations were registered. Most of them were violations of registration rules or the length of stay in Russian territory regime.

    During this operation, ten foreigners, who had violated Russian criminal legislation, were detained.
