MOSCOW, MARCH 31, (RIA NOVOSTI) - Three Russians recently found violent death in Cyprus. One was identified as Tambov gang godfather, a police officer said to Novosti.

Vyacheslav Shevchenko, 50, led a gang based in Tambov, major Central Russian city, and notorious all over the country. He was on the "wanted" list since 2000, when the federal Prosecutor General's office accused him of extortion.

The police had no suspicions against the two other victims-Yuri Zorin, 55, and Valentina Tretyakova, 25. Our informant assumes they were killed as undesirable witnesses.

Cypriot police came on the bodies in the small hours of Thursday last in a private house ten kilometres off Paphos. A first alarm came from the victims' legal adviser, who said the clients failed to contact him a few days before, as scheduled, and told the police their address in Cyprus.

Local police has joined hands in detection with the national Interpol office under Russia's Interior Ministry.
