BRITISH PARATROOPERS TO HELP AMERICANS FIND TERRORIST NO. 1 IN AFGHANISTAN

ISLAMABAD, March 20, 2004. (RIA Novosti). An elite detachment of 100 paratroopers of the British Royal Air Force arrived in Kabul to search for Osama bin Laden, the Frontier Post newspaper quoted officials of Kabul's airport as saying on Saturday.

No official statements have been issued in this respect. A representative of the British Embassy said he could not make any statements on special operations.

The detachment left the airport under cover of night in an unknown direction, the Frontier Post said.

Pakistani media also reported on the transfer from Iraq to Pakistan of US Task Force 212 mariners who had captured Saddam Hussein in his underground shelter some months ago.

According to Pakistani media, this detachment is allegedly searching for bin Laden and his cronies along the Afghan-Pakistani border.
