BERLIN, MARCH 19 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Peter Benes, a German co-chairman and coordinator of the "Petersburg Dialogue", has proposed setting up a German-Russian youth forum.

It is high time to launch a close and all-round cooperation between young Germans and Russians, that is between high school and university students, factory and office workers, Benes said Friday.

He believes that Russia's intention to consolidate civil society is of exceptional significance for the further activities of the German-Russian "Petersburg dialogue" and a decisive factor for successful cooperation between the Germans and Russians.

Not only governments, the nations too ought to participate in the consolidation of democratic values - young people, above all, said the co-chairman.

Benes referred to the earlier-established German-French and German-Polish youth forums as having proved to be very conducive for the promotion of German-French and German-Polish mutual understanding.
