MOSCOW, March 19 ( RIA Novosti ) - In four years Russia's gross domestic product has grown nearly by one third, as indicated by the materials prepared by the Ministry of Finance for the extended Collegium session of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, scheduled for Friday.

In 2000-2003 the GDP in real terms increased by 29.9 %, the document reads. In the previous four-year period - from 1996 to 1999 - the GDP declined by 1.5 %.

"The average rate of economic growth per year during the last four years amounted to 6.8 %, which is twice higher than the developed countries' growth rates and 1.5-2 % higher than those of the developing and transition economies," the materials point out.

Russia's contribution to the global GDP growth in terms of the current rate has increased from 2% in 2000 to 3%, and in terms of purchasing power parity - from 2.8% to 5%.
