GROZNY, March 19. / RIA Novosti/. The officers of the main department of the Russian interior ministry for the Southern federal district have detained in Chechnya a policeman suspected of aiding and abetting militants.

"During a checkup of operative information in the Leninsky district of Grozny, private Ibragimov, who serves in the department of extradepartmental security under the Chechen interior ministry, was detained," reported a source in the republics' interior ministry.

In his words, there are ample grounds to suspect Ibragimov of illegally acquiring and storing weapons and ammunition which he subsequently handed over to members of bandit formations. Apart from that, operatives believe that the policeman had repeatedly transported militants across the republic, thereby helping them to avoid roadblock checkups.
