MOSCOW, March 18, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The Russian information agency Novosti will take an active part in organizing the contest for foreign journalists called "Golden Verb." "We intend to actively work for the contest to become more popular and assist our foreign colleagues," Alexander Babinsky, the First Deputy Board Chairman of RIA Novosti, told a press conference in Moscow.

The Golden Verb contest was organized last year. It found wide response among foreign journalists.

In his speech, Mr. Babinsky optimistically assessed prospects for holding the contest this year. "The first months of the year provided a lot of interesting topics for work," he said. He expressed the hope that these topics will give a positive impulse in the future.

Another thing to be optimistic about, in Mr. Babinsky's opinion, is that the best and the brightest corps of foreign journalists was represented in Russia. "We are too interesting in the good sense, and have a lot to tell," he added.

The interest of foreign journalists, in Mr. Babinsky's opinion, "is not only politics, science, culture and technology, but Russians' everyday life as well."
