NEW YORK, March 18, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The amount of new direct foreign investment in Russia in 2004 will add up to $12 billion, Yuri Isaev, Russian deputy minister for economic development and trade, prophesied on Thursday. He participates in the 8th annual conference Investments in Russia and the CIS, being held in New York.
"We predict a two-fold increase in direct foreign investment from last year, when they stood at $6.2 billion increasing by 60 percent from 2002," Isaev said.
In his estimate, the largest direct foreign investments will be made in the oil and gas sector, trade, telecommunications, commercial real estate.
