NOVO-OGAREVO, MARCH 17 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Leonid Kuchma of Ukraine are discussing bilateral issues at an informal summit in Novo-Ogarevo, Russian presidential country residence in the Moscow environs.

President Putin pointed out the latest progress of Russo-Ukrainian relations. Certain essential documents appear soon to be ratified, he added. In that connection, the President called on the two parliaments to ratify them simultaneously, as the two countries previously intended.

A bill on the common economic space of four CIS countries - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan - has been forwarded to the Ukrainian parliament, said President Kuchma. The Cabinet approved another document today, which concerns the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. That, too, has been sent in to parliament.

Presidents Vladimir Putin and Leonid Kuchma signed, December 2003, an agreement on joint Russian-Ukrainian use of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch-Yenikale canal - the Kerch Strait's only navigable route.
