MOSCOW, March 17, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- The Russian-Iranian protocol on the return of nuclear fuel wastes will be signed before this summer, Radzhab Safarov, director of the Centre for Modern Iranian Studies, told the press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

The protocol on the return of wasted nuclear fuel from the Bushehr nuclear power plant will be signed during the Iranian visit of Alexander Rumyantsev, head of the federal nuclear energy agency.

In the opinion of Mr. Safarov, attention should be paid to the keeping and return of nuclear fuel wastes not entailing substantial losses.

"Iran is ready to shoulder pay for the processing and transportation of such fuel in case this does not call for grave expenses," Radzhab Safarov said.
