MOSCOW, March 17, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow that he would hold two meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in the next 2 months.
"The nearest routine meeting with Colin Powell will take place in May on the sidelines of a meeting of G8 foreign ministers to discuss arrangements for a G8 summit in June," said Mr. Lavrov.
"We may also hold a meeting in Berlin in April as part of a conference on Afghanistan," he added.
Mr. Lavrov has had two telephone conversations with Mr. Powell since he was appointed foreign minister.
Mr. Lavrov said his timetable for today and the next few days had already been created and that he had a series of meetings and telephone conferences.
