DUSHANBE, March 17, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - European Union Commissioner for External Relations Christopher Patten will visit Tajikistan on March 17-18, the republic's foreign ministry told RIA Novosti Wednesday.
During his visit, Mr. Patten will discuss the EU's strategy in the republic with the Tajik leadership, the presidential staff noted.
The EU's commissioner is expected to meet President Emomali Rakhmonov and Prime Minister Akil Akilov.
The sides will also discuss relations between Central Asian and neighbouring nations and also the prospects of their accession to the World Trade Organisation.
Besides, the European commissioner intends to meet representatives of the Humanitarian Aid Office of the European Commission in Tajikistan.
