STATE DUMA SPEAKER GRYZLOV TO HAVE A MEETING WITH BELARUSSIAN PRESIDENT LUKASHENKO

MOSCOW, March 16 (RIA Novosti) - On Wednesday within the framework of the 24th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Russia and Belarus which is held in Minsk, State Duma speaker Boris Gryzlov will have a meeting with Belarussian president Aleksander Lukashenko.

According to the head of the lower house of the Russian parliament, the major item on the session agenda will be consideration of the draft budget of the Union state for 2004.

In addition to that, parliamentarians will consider organizational matters.

In the course of the session's work decisions will be taken regarding election of the chairman and deputy chairmen of the Parliamentary Assembly. According to the information provided to RIA Novosti in the press service of the Union's Parliamentary Assembly, the Belarussian side agreed that it was expedient to nominate State Duma chairman Boris Gryzlov to the post of the chairman.

The meeting will also consider "sensitive" issues in relations between the two countries. Gryzlov indicated that the most convenient way to eliminate these sensitive issues was to "consider them by parliamentarians."
