OSCE EARMARKS 1.3 MILLION EUROS TO HOLD ELECTION IN GEORGIA

TBILISI, March 16, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- The treaty, which stipulates the financing by the Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) the project of marking electors and informing them of election issues, was signed on Tuesday in Tbilisi. In compliance with this document the OSCE will allocate 170,000 euros for these purposes.

The document was signed by head of the OSCE mission to Georgia Roy Reeve and chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia Zurab Chiaberashvili.

The OSCE supports Tbilisi financially with the aim of holding democratic election in the country, Roy Reeve said at a briefing after the signing of the treaty.

All in all, the OSCE is going to earmark 1.3 million euros as a financial assistance to Georgia for conducting parliamentary elections scheduled for March 28.

The Novosti-Georgia information agency reports that this sum includes financial aid to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, providing information to the electors and holding training sessions for members of election administrations.
